US President Donald Trump said military action was taken against Iran’s nuclear programme to protect the Gulf, including Israel, from the risk of Tehran obtaining a nuclear weapon. Speaking in Florida, he argued talks were not delivering the kind of deal Washington requires, adding that he is ruling out any “early exit” from the region.
