Meta backs space solar startup as it plans beam powered data centers by 2030

First orbital test is due in 2028

Meta is partnering with space startup Overview Energy to supply solar power to data centers using solar collection in space and wireless power beaming to the ground. The companies expect an initial orbital demonstration in 2028 and aim for commercial power delivery by 2030, targeting around the clock generation for energy-hungry operations.
