Google has signed a classified AI deal with the U.S. Department of Defense, enabling Pentagon use of its AI models for sensitive government work. The contract allows “any lawful government purpose” and includes safeguards related to domestic mass surveillance and autonomous weapons, but it does not give Google veto power over how the military makes decisions.
