AI turns connected cars into pothole detectors that track damage in real time

Cars can classify potholes and predict deterioration

Fleet management firm Samsara says its AI model can spot different pothole types from connected-car data and estimate how quickly they’re worsening. Instead of relying on manual inspections, the system could continuously map road damage using everyday driving, giving operators and agencies fresher, more actionable information about where repairs are needed most.
