Three workers died and one is in critical condition after inhaling alleged toxic fumes while cleaning an underground effluent treatment plant (ETP) tank at Mafatlal Gujarat Industries Limited in Kalol’s Saij GIDC. Officials say the men entered the tank after water was drained to remove sludge and waste; co-workers reported they collapsed inside the confined space one after another. Police preliminarily believe the deceased were migrant labourers and are investigating safety protocols, including gas detection, ventilation, and PPE.
