West Bengal Board of Primary Education has released TET 2023 results for Class 1 to 5 teacher recruitment. Out of 2.73 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam held in December 2023, fewer than 7,000 qualified—just 2.47 percent. With 13,421 posts up for filling, the board has decided to investigate why the qualification rate was so low.
West Bengal’s Education Minister Bratya Basu said the state will issue a notification to recruit 13,421 primary teachers after Durga Puja. The decision follows the TET 2023 results, in which 6,754 candidates qualified out of 2.73 lakh appearing. The recruitment process is expected to start post-festival.
