The Centre has turned down Andhra Pradesh’s request to supply diesel at retail prices for Amaravati construction. Union Petroleum Secretary Neeraj Mittal said the directive violates petroleum rules, warning that retail outlets are not licensed for bulk supply. He asked the state to withdraw the order, while Andhra said it will discuss the matter further with the Centre.
