The Madras High Court held a special sitting after DMK leader and former minister K R Periakaruppan challenged the Tiruppattur Assembly election result, which he lost by a historic margin of one vote. The court asked the Election Commission of India to explain the discrepancy surrounding the narrow count between R Seenivasa Sethupathi of TVK and Periakaruppan.
