Noida International Airport was expected to undercut Delhi’s IGI fares after Uttar Pradesh cut aviation fuel taxes. But airlines say the savings could be wiped out by higher airport tariffs and passenger charges levied at the new hub. The result: flights may end up costing the same as IGI or even more, limiting passenger shift to Noida.
IndiGo has announced it will begin commercial operations from Noida International Airport in Jewar on June 15, 2026. The airline will run the inaugural flights on routes including Lucknow to Noida, Noida to Bengaluru, Bengaluru to Noida, and Noida to Lucknow. IndiGo is set to be the first carrier operating out of the newly built hub.

Analysts say Noida International Airport’s opening won’t significantly dent GMR’s Delhi airport business. They expect only a modest passenger reshuffle, mostly within domestic traffic. Key international volumes and high-yield revenue for Delhi are projected to hold up, and Noida could even support future capacity management. GMR Airports’ stock may benefit from the tempered impact view.
