India, which took over the chair from Brazil on January 1, hosted earlier BRICS presidencies in 2012, 2016, and 2021. The two-day ministerial summit aims to set the roadmap leading to the Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi.
Addressing the University of the West Indies in Kingston during his Caribbean visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the international system is entering “extraordinary times.” He pointed to conflicts, economic disruptions and rapid technological change, and called for stronger Global South unity, reformed multilateralism and a move toward a more multipolar world.
