The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved three multi-tracking projects for Indian Railways, investing Rs 23,437 crore to expand 901 km of track across six states and 19 districts. The upgrades are expected to cut congestion, raise freight capacity, strengthen connectivity to key tourist routes, and create jobs, with benefits projected by 2030-31.
