OpenAI is reportedly gearing up to launch its first AI-focused smartphone, targeting mass production in the first half of 2027. Analysts, citing Apple veteran Ming-Chi Kuo, say the device will use a custom MediaTek chip and be built as an “AI agent phone” with heavy on-device intelligence plus cloud support and premium hardware ambitions that may scale to 30 million units.
