A Nagaon District and Sessions Court in Assam has sentenced 20 people to life imprisonment for the mob lynching of Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath. The verdict comes after an eight-year delay. While the court delivered life terms, the victims’ families are dissatisfied, saying they sought the death penalty, and are weighing further legal action, including approaching the High Court.
