An UP court has rejected a BJP functionary’s plea seeking Rahul Gandhi’s voice sample in a defamation case. The matter relates to alleged objectionable remarks made by Gandhi in 2018. Gandhi had surrendered earlier and was granted bail. The case will return for the next hearing on May 11, after which the BJP leader plans to file a revision plea.
The Allahabad High Court has directed its registry to stop using phrases like “court below” and “lower court” in official records. The move comes after a Supreme Court directive that said such terminology is unconstitutional. Going forward, the registry will use “trial court” or name the specific designated court in all documentation.
