Railways is planning AI cameras on rolling stock, but new orders are on hold as surveillance standards keep evolving. IP-based video surveillance norms were first set by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation in 2018, then amended seven times, most recently in June 2025. The latest spec defines CCTV recording for post-event analysis inside and outside trains.
