Mizoram has been declared free of active underground ethnic insurgent groups after the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) Lalhmingthanga Sanate faction laid down arms and returned to the mainstream. The shift was marked in Sesawng in a ceremony, following a peace pact signed earlier this month, with the government welcoming cadres and citing renewed peace and unity in the state.
