India’s IT hiring is set for a sharp boost as AI job openings are projected to grow by about 15 to 20 percent, according to Ashwini Vaishnaw. The momentum is being supported by major data center investments, aided by attractive tax benefits, while new subsea cable projects expand digital connectivity—strengthening the infrastructure behind the AI boom.
India’s offshore tech centers, or GCCs, generated $98.4 billion in FY26 revenue, nearly four years ahead of the $99–105 billion 2030 projection. The ecosystem now includes 2,117 GCCs and 2.36 million employees, up 32% since FY21, fueled by AI-first mandates and strategic relocation as visa and geopolitical pressures rise.

Capillary Technologies reported a strong March quarter, with operating revenue rising 26% and profit after tax surging 233%. US-based Glade Brook Capital is reportedly in discussions to invest $20–25 million in Sarvam AI’s $320–350 million funding round. The round values the startup at about $1.5 billion. Strategic backers such as Nvidia, Amazon, and HCLTech are also expected to participate alongside venture capital firms, signaling growing international interest in India’s AI boom.
AI is reshaping India’s technology landscape, eroding one of IT services’ biggest advantages: scalability over startups. New VC-backed firms are moving beyond “custom coding” to AI-heavy products that package services as software, squeezing margins and forcing incumbents to adapt their offerings, delivery models, and competitive strategy.
