A Chicago police officer was killed and another critically injured after shots were fired at Endeavor Health Swedish Hospital, officials said. The suspect, not publicly identified, opened indiscriminate fire while already detained, prompting a hospital lockdown. Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said officers moved the suspect before the violence erupted, and the injured officers are now receiving treatment.
