The Bombay High Court directed the Maharashtra government to compensate a farmer after parrots damaged his pomegranate trees. Ruling that parrots fall under the Wild Life (Protection) Act as “wild animals,” the court said the state must reimburse citizens for losses caused by its wildlife-related protections and property obligations.
