He then presided over the election of Deputy Speaker M Ravisankar, who also won unopposed. With both roles settled, Assembly proceedings will now be run by Prabhakar.

The move follows TVK’s historic win in the 2026 Assembly elections, with party MLAs taking oath earlier this week. During the election, AIADMK and TVK leaders signaled support as Prabhakar took the chair.
