Praveen Sood’s tenure as CBI chief has been extended by one year, marking his second extension in office. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared the move beyond May 24, 2026. Sood had taken charge in May 2023 for a two-year term, with the latest decision following a selection committee meeting.
