A businessman and his wife from Guna, Madhya Pradesh, were arrested after abandoning their 2.5-year-old daughter on a highway in Sheopur, believing she brought bad luck. During the probe, police alleged the couple had not legally adopted the child and instead “purchased” her through an illegal trafficking channel in Indore for Rs. 1 lakh, with claims of physical abuse also emerging.
