The Allahabad High Court ruled that the honorific “Hon’ble” should be used only for constitutional functionaries such as MPs, judges, and ministers, describing it as tied to sovereign roles. Civil servants, it said, are not entitled to the title. The clarification followed a case where an FIR failed to use “Hon’ble” for MP Anurag Thakur.
